Friday Fabric Porn

This week I drove with my mother, from Sydney to Melbourne to visit my sister. We were only there for for two days, but it was so good to see her.

My mum has always said she thinks the greatest gift she has ever given us is each other, and I'm pretty sure that's correct. No matter what is happening in our lives, we will always know that we have each other and we will drop everything we are doing and we will be there.

While in Melbourne (and when Julia was at University), I went to the amazing wonderland of a fabric shop called G&Js Fabrics in Brunswick and on the 9 hour drive home, we dropped off at Carolyn Konig's shop/studio (Carolyn's Quilting Room) in Wodonga.

Carolyn's patterns and quilts on display are a testament to her 30somthing years of patchwork and quilting. I was in awe of her quilts (even a postage stamp Liberty print one!) and the size of her studio. She is probably one of the loveliest ladies I've ever met. I felt like I was visiting an old friend, not just shopping! Her shop sells many civil war reproductions and a massive range of A Day in the Country fabrics, an Australian designer/fabric company.

I know for SURE that I will visit the shop whenever I can (given the fact that it is about 6.5hours away).

Enough of the talking though.....MORE FABRIC!!!! (I bought small cuts of all of these fabrics - partially because I have very little money and also because the projects I have in mind only need small amounts).

Until next time!
